Acclimatization Nutrition

Expedition Fueling

To summit successfully, your body requires clean, balanced, and easily digestible energy. Our custom Kilimanjaro menus are meticulously calculated to offset the extreme exertion of the climb and combat altitude-related appetite loss.

01 · Breakfast

The Morning Fuel

A hearty combination of energy-packed oatmeal porridge, fried eggs, sausages, steamed rice, fresh tropical fruits, toasted bread, tea, coffee, Milo, and hot chocolate.

02 · Lunch

Trailside Recharge

Includes cheese, gourmet sandwiches, crackers, peanut butter, jam or honey, roasted potatoes, chips, fruit slices, cashews, peanuts, and freshly baked cookies. On shorter days, enjoy a warm, comforting lunch served in the camp.

03 · Dinner

Mess Tent Feast

A multi-course buffet served warm inside the mess tent: starting with fresh vegetable soups and bread, followed by main courses of rice stews, vegetable curries, pasta, potato dishes, hot desserts, and calming herbal teas.

🌱 Nutritional Science at Elevation

All dishes are freshly prepared by our professional mountain chefs using ingredients carried daily by our dedicated team of porters. We use premium heart-healthy vegetable and olive oils to maintain low saturated fats and high digestibility.

We highly recommend bringing personal, high-carb trail snacks (energy bars, chocolates, candy, and powdered sports drinks) to supplement your energy during the demanding midnight summit bid.

* Custom dietary requirements (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or specific allergies) are gladly catered for with advance notice.

💧 Mountain Stream Water & Purification

Adequate hydration is critical in preventing Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Water on the mountain is carefully collected by our team from glacier-fed alpine streams, thoroughly filtered, and treated with medical-grade water purification tablets.

Fresh water is supplied at every camp. Hikers must carry a minimum of 3 liters of water on the trail in hydration bladders or insulated flasks to maintain peak performance and acclimatization.
